SELECT FORMAT:

A debut album from EABS entitled “Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda)” entirely dedicated to Krzysztof Komeda and his legacy. Krzysztof Komeda was a legendary Polish jazz artist whose works are still inspiring the artists of younger generations. And this very album proves that fact. The so-called "post Komeda" period is full of tributes paid to the artist in a form of various records where his songs were interpreted in countless ways.   “Repetitions” analyses Komeda's works from 1962 to 1967, in other words - Komeda's less popular songs yet explored more carefully. The whole album is a refined selection of pieces by Krzysztof Komeda arranged for ballet, feature films, shorts, documentaries, animations, and compositions with the poems by Polish poets recited in German.

This immaculate collection featuring compositions, movie themes and the lyrics by Marek Pędziwiatr make “Repetitions” a sui generis concept album about the condition of a human soul in the 21st century. If we pose the same questions as the post-war artists did looking at the heavy toll taken by the Second World War , one thought may pop up: will history come full circle again? Ignorance, idiocracy, aggression, conflict-seeking, lack of community, no love may trigger another Armageddon. The chances are that it is already happenning right before our eyes but we are just too blind to see it... Like in a poem entiitled “Piosenka o końcu świata” by Czesław Miłosz, to which Krzysztof Komeda wrote a “Waltzing Beyond” track.
